Someone may claim to have placed funds in seller’s bank account or transferred them, but unless seller has checked with the bank that funds are deposited and cleared, payment cannot be confirmed as paid. Cheques (including bank cheques) and money transfers may be fake, thieved or forged. Never accept foreign cheques. Also inspect the security features of currency offered you.
