African rhythm workshop with Talkin'' the Drum & Spankinhide
Talkin’ the Drum offers the opportunity for an interactive workshop in playing African rhythm. The experience is designed to be primarily fun and is structured for people with no previous musical experience – everybody is welcome. A variety of instruments are available, the main one being the West African drum known as the djembe (often referred to as ‘bongos’). Doundouns (stick bass drums), bells and shakers may also be utilised.

Donald Hall has become a master of many instruments due to a long history as a professional musician and entertainer. Donald has released a number of cds, most recently playing harp with his Persian quartet presenting music from the courts of ancient Persia and the sublime poetry of the great Sufi poet Rumi and Omar Khayyam.

The Seaside Symphony Orchestra was established in the year 2000. The aim of the orchestra was to enable musicians of all ages, young and the more mature, to have a local orchestra in the Sandgate area conducted by a professional conductor. The Festival Choir is a newly established local musical group having their first performance at our festival. The choir is in capable hands of its musical director Jenni Lake who will lead the group into a promising future.
